Friday Favorites

Hey friends!

Happy first day of June!

I am glad some of you jumped over from my other blog, School in Our Slippers. I am so bummed that I had to turn it to private, but until I can figure out what I want to do there, I remembered that I had this other blog set-up from a few years ago. I need to update it big time, new header, description, etc, because my looks have changed and the purpose of this space has as well.

For now, I will just post over here and not share any pictures of the kiddos. For those of you that don't know, I got a really yucky, disturbing comment from someone about my little girls in their swimsuits. It was too much and for now, I don't want any pictures of my kids out in the public.

Comment below and let me know that you are here. I want to jump right back into the blogging community and hate to feel like I am just talking to "empty space." :(

This morning I am excited to be joining Erika, Narci, and Andrea for some Friday Favorites!!

Monday night My Hunter and I got out for a date night. We have set a goal to get one in a month this year, which is a big deal for us. For years we haven't been able to get out, just the two of us, due to our kids being young, health issues, etc. We have finally reached a stage in our life where we are able to enjoy each other again, and honestly, it's amazing!

Next week I am getting my hair cut. It is definitely time, because all I have been doing for the past few months is pulling my hair up in a ponytail. About five years ago, I cut my hair super, super short, the shortest I have ever gone in my life {see the picture up in the header of my blog}, and I am thinking I may go back that short again. I figure it's just hair and will grow back. If I back out of that decision, I will probably go with a cute bob... something like these. I have been pinning haircuts like crazy over on my Pinterest board. Check it out and let me know what you think I should do.

Our lilac trees have bloomed, and they are for sure my favorite. We have had the windows open all week and the smell of them flows through the house. I look forward to this all year; I just wish they stuck around longer.

The weather this past week has been gorgeous. It has been sunny and in the upper 60s, low 70s, which is what I love most. I know the heat is just around the corner, so it is nice to soak in these days where we aren't having to shut up the house and turn on the air.

Today is our LAST day of school!!!! I am going to totally enjoy taking a break from teaching and the routine of that all. I know before the end of summer is up, I will be ready to jump back in and will crave routine again. I do thrive better that way. ;) But we also have some super fun things coming up, and I plan to relax and read as much as possible too. :)

Hope you all have a great Friday and weekend! One of my girls has two birthday parties, so we will be running her back and forth to those. Tonight, after pizza, we are snuggling up for popcorn and movie, and then I hope to find some time to finish The Island House before Monday rolls around. Nothing big, but I am ready to relax and kick off summer!!

Questions for you:
1. What is one or two favorites from your week?
2. If you are a reader, tell me what book is on your night stand currently.
3. Any fun plans this weekend?

I'm linking up as always today with NarciAndrea and Erika for Friday Favorites!
Also, linking up with Katie =)

Friday Favorites

Good morning! I am thrilled to see Friday here! This week went fast again. With packing at the forefront of my mind, the days seem to slide by. We don't have too much planned for this weekend. The girls are heading to a friend's tomorrow for a Halloween party; they have really been excited for it.

Last week I had a lot of fun linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea for some Friday favorites, so I wanted to join in with them again this week.

First up, we have our pumpkins picked and plan to carve or paint them this weekend.

Next, today I will be heading over to the new house to go through the 4-hour inspection with the man. One step closer to moving day! :-)

Yesterday my sweet friend sent a text saying she was swinging by with a Vanilla Chai Tea Latte for me. I love her!

Hand me a spoon and a jar of my favorite P.B. and we will call it good. ;)

Some of the things I have been spying around the web that I love, love, love include this adorable leather hobo bag. Unfortunately it's not available right now on Nordstrom. :(

I also fell in love with these cute and comfy sweatshirts as soon as I saw them. Fall, comfy and sweatshirts?! It all goes together in my mind. Which one would you choose??

Absolutely adoring this top and wishing I had it in my closet right now.

Neon paired with camo?! Yep, totally need this look.

And, last, her hair. Totally in love with it all... color, the way she is wearing it, and the length. Wishing I could pull off long hair.

So there you have it, some of my favorites for the day. It's kind of fun to do a totally random post like this. Happy weekend!

What is one of your "Friday Favorites" today?

What from my list is your favorite?

Friday Favorites

Friday always feels like a party to me. The weekend is at the tip of our fingers, and our family has an especially exciting something happening tonight! :-) Follow on my Facebook Page and I hope to share with you all soon! To kick off our Friday morning though, I thought it would be fun to share some of the fitness stuff I have been eyeing lately.

I thought this tank was so fun! Totally what I am aiming for... workin' off that fluff.

This outfit! I love everything about it. The back is super adorable, and I love how the bottom of her capris matches the tank pattern.

Fun, bright colors! I would love these headbands to throw on to keep the hair out of my face during my morning workouts. I don't know if you are like me, but anything as simple and cute as this makes me more excited to workout.

In my opinion, this product is just pure genius! I can't believe it wasn't thought of earlier. My MIL and I were just talking last week about how when we go walking we have nowhere to put our house key. I am always afraid I will lose it while we are out and be locked out of my house *forever*! ;)

I decided to link-up with Erika, Andrea, and Narci today. I read Erika's blog weekly and love her Friday Favorites post. Join in the fun and check out some of their favorite things.

Have a great weekend, friends!

Friday Fit Favorites for Summer

This morning I thought I would share some of my favorite workout essentials that I have been using this summer. I love seeing what other people use and enjoy, so be sure to comment below with any staples you have right now.

  1. Apple's Ear Phones: I love that these slip in your ear and have no trouble staying in. They are super comfortable, to the point that I forget I have them in.
  2. TONYMOLY's Floria Nutra-Energy Toner & Emulsion: I have shared my love for this stuff over on my FB page. My SIL sent this product to me from Korea, and I love it! Even if I don't have time for a shower, I always wash my face after a workout. It's got witch hazel in it which leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed.
  3. Scunci No-Slip Headwraps: I go with cheap here, because they get the job done for me. My hair stays out of my face while I am getting sweaty, and that's all I care about.
  4. Camelbak Insulated Water Bottle: I bought this bottle for a couple reasons. First, I love that it is insulated so that my water stays cool in the summer heat. I also love that this water bottle doesn't sweat. Second, the lid has a hook on there so that I am able to easily clip it on to my bike or the stroller when we head outdoors. And, finally, the lifetime guarantee sold me completely.
  5. Degree Deodorant: I have tried many different deodorant brands and I always come back to Degree. It lasts all day long and I love the smell.
  6. Balega Socks: I first tried these socks four years ago when I started running. When I bought them I felt guilty paying that price for one pair of socks, but they live up to the price! They are so comfortable! They have this extra little padding to cushion your achilles and to prevent your socks from slipping down into your shoes.
  7. Energy & Endurance: I workout first thing in the morning, so I am extremely grateful I found this product. I drink this 30 minutes before I start working out and it gives me the kick I need to have the energy to wake up and have a great workout. I love how it doesn't leave me all jittery like some of those other pre-workout drinks I have tried. Another bonus is that it's all natural.

QUESTION
What have been some of your favorite fitness additions this summer?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, peeps! I am super excited over here, because we get the hubs home for an extra long weekend with Monday being a holiday! Any fun plans for you? The gorgeous weather is supposed to continue here so we will be outdoors for the majority of the weekend. Our church is putting on a concert/auction and supper tonight at a nearby ranch, so we may start out our weekend there.

Wanted to share some favorites from recently.

1. Was out of body butter so picked up a new kind from Target the other day. If you want to instantly be taken away to the beach, this stuff is for you. ;) Smells so good, I am constantly putting it on.
2. We couldn't find my Blistex at the store the other day, so My Hunter grabbed me some Burt's Bee. I complained at first, but I have to say, this stuff is now on my favs. list!

3. Remember how My Hunter gave me an entire day out with one of my best friends over Mother's Day weekend? Well, we ended up going thrifting and I found some cute clothes for myself like this fun, bright tank {a little wrinkly, but cute none-the-less} and pants, both Old Navy. I have never shopped at a thrift store for myself, but now I am wondering why I don't do it more! Lots of fun finds that day.
4. This view! Seriously, how did I end up in such a gorgeous area?! We were driving out to our friend's Tuesday morning, and I decided to pull over and take a picture of the lake we drive by and go fishing at.

And to use my new ESV Study Bible?! Eek! I have a hard time stopping my studies in the mornings now. I don't know why I didn't have a study Bible before???? I am digging into the doctrine right now, and this has been so helpful.

5. How fun is my daughter's braid? It is official that I need to learn to french braid. With two girls it is silly that I don't know how already. The babysitter was over yesterday playing with the kids and she did this to their hair. Love it!

Have a fantastic Friday and long weekend everyone! If you have plans, comment below. I would love to hear what you are up to this weekend!

Linking up with some awesome ladies today, so be sure to stop over and say hi!

Day 2 of Shakeology Cleanse... DONE!

We had a green tea date yesterday morning... just us girls! :-)
I don't know if you could tell from the picture I posted yesterday of my day one completion post, but that was not a recent picture of me. That was me from back in November when I *tried* to do the 3-Day Shakeology Cleanse. Go back and look here if you missed yesterday's post. You will see my hair is shorter. I was too lazy too busy to post any other picture yesterday. You see, I have this whole conference event coming up TOMORROW {Please pray for me!} that has consumed my time, so I couldn't justify making a new photo that says the same thing... that I made it through day one.

The thing with back in November when I tried to do this cleanse was that I only made it through day one. I failed after that. On day 2 I started by slowly licking the peanut butter off the knife after making the kids' breakfast, telling myself, "No big deal. It's one little lick." That then led to a small bite of one of their sandwiches. {I am sure you can guess where this is going. :-)} Eventually by the end of the day I was eating everything that I should not have if I wanted to truly do this cleanse right. And, by day three... well, there was no day 3.

This time around, however, I made a promise to myself and My Hunter that I was going to do this 3-day cleanse! He reminded me that I am so strong when I make up my mind to do something, in fact I think his exact words were, "You are seriously the strongest woman I know... when you decide to be." That meant a lot! It got me thinking that, "Yeah... I *can* do this! It's only three days!" I believe that when you truly accept yourself and put your mind fully into your goals, you will achieve them!
That is part of the reason I have been posting this 3-day journey on here. I know that if I share with you guys, you are all now holding me accountable too, and I love that! It keeps me going! Accountability is another huge part in moving towards your goals. I want to succeed because I gave my word that I am going to do this!

So, I am happy to report in to all of you that I completed day two yesterday perfectly! I did it! One more day to go!

Like I said yesterday, I will be sharing a full post {hopefully Monday} on how this went and what my results are, but I have to say I am feeling so amazing! I think God orchestrated this cleanse in line with this conference prep. I am feeling so clear-headed and focused, which as a result makes getting things done much easier.

Okay, now I have to go. More work to get done for the big day tomorrow! I hope you all have an amazing Friday! <3

Questions:
  • What is one goal that you are putting your full mind into believing you can do and WILL prove you can do?
  • Do you have an accountability partner?
  • Any fun events going on in your life this weekend?

Thanks for the link-ups, Lauren and Jennie! This is by far my FAVORITE Friday highlight from my week! :-)

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday, my friends! This week went by quickly again, but I think the gorgeous 70 degree weather we have been experiencing helped pass it by. We spent a lot of time outside, as you can probably imagine. We were ready for spring around this house. ;)

I am linking up with Lauren, Darci, and Jennie today to share five of my favorite things from this week.

1. I was out of my favorite granola at the beginning of the week, but have no fear... I picked up more on Wednesday and became happy once again. It's sometimes dangerous for me to keep this stuff in the house because I love it so much!

2. Getting my workouts in with a buddy has been fun. Usually it was My Hunter, but yesterday my favorite little airplane-flyin' man joined me.

3. The artwork my 7 year old daughter has been making this week is definitely wall-hanging worthy! ;) She is still saying she wants to be an artist when she grows up {and her dad is still saying she will be living with us when she is 30 because of this, haha... I won't mind. :-)}.

4. I found the chipotle spice we need for our meatloaf muffins, so you can bet I will be making some of these again very soon.

5. My Hunter tried some of these chips the other day for the first time and mentioned how much he actually liked them. So I had to pick up a big bag for him when we were at Costco the other day.

How was your week?
